Frequently Asked Questions
Do we only do in-home work?
No problem—we completely understand that having work done in your home or space over multiple days isn’t always convenient. If your piece is a manageable size and weight, you’re welcome to drop it off at our Oak Lawn, IL studio for custom design work. As always, the artwork and design will be fully tailored to your vision and preferences.
How long does epoxy take to cure?
Epoxy resin is suitable for light use after 72 hours, but we recommend avoiding heavy objects for at least one week after completion. For best results and long-term durability, do not place hot items such as cookware directly on the surface until one month after installation.
Is epoxy waterproof? what are the perks of epoxy over my surface?
Yes—epoxy resin is waterproof once fully cured, creating a sealed, non-porous surface that resists water, spills, stains, and moisture. While it is highly durable, it’s still best to wipe up standing water to maintain its long-term finish and shine. One of the biggest advantages of epoxy over traditional surfaces is its combination of strength and design flexibility. It provides a seamless, easy-to-clean surface that can be customized with endless design options, from stone and marble effects to metallic and abstract finishes. Epoxy can also be applied over existing countertops and multiple surfaces, making it a cost-effective way to transform a space without a full replacement. In addition, it offers a unique, one-of-a-kind finish that can be restored or recoated over time, making it both practical and long-lasting.
How long will the process take for an in-house install?
Please keep in mind that the epoxy process is a multi-day application, and timing can vary depending on the scope and type of project.
On average, a standard kitchen countertop takes about 4–5 days to complete. Typically, Days 1–2 are dedicated to design and preparation work, followed by an epoxy application day. Day 3 may involve an additional epoxy coat or detailed cleanup, while Days 4–5 are used for final finishing and inspection. Epoxy requires approximately 24 hours to lightly cure, and some projects may require multiple coats for optimal results. After 72 hours, the surface can be used for extremely light use, with full care guidelines provided to ensure proper curing and long-lasting durability.
Frequently Asked Questions
What materials do we work over?
We work over a variety of different materials. Existing granite, vinyl, laminate, glass, MDF, plywood, wood. Butcher wood may only contain up to 5% moisture maximum. Otherwise, overtime the epoxy may split due to trapped moisture.

-
The surrounding work area must remain clean, dust-free, and free from heavy disturbance for 7–10 days to ensure proper curing and finish quality
-
The surface requires a minimum of 72 hours before any use, and even then should be limited to light use only until fully cured
-
Pets must be kept completely away from the work and curing area throughout the entire process for safety and finish protection
-
Proper HVAC filtration is required prior to installation, including clean or replaced filters to ensure a dust-free curing environment
